Message From The Chair
The South Huron Chamber of Commerce is a vital and growing organization. We serve the interests of the business community by providing services, networking opportunities and advocacy. We are a membership-based organization and rely on your membership fees and direction for our activities and support.
Businesses join the Chamber for various reasons including our Chamber Benefits program (one of the best small business packages in Ontario), inclusion in Chamber promotions and activities as well as to support economic and community development. The power of each individual business is multiplied, and members can work collectively towards innovative solutions and to have an amplified voice.
2019 has been a year that featured successful events, new programming and activities. Business owners and professionals continue to participate in networking opportunities such as our Annual Golf Tournament, our Summer and Christmas Socials, as well as more targeted events such as the South Huron Women in Business Network, Lunch & Learns and Business After 5s. In 2019, the Chamber has focused on Workforce Development and hosted our 4th annual South Huron Job fair, continued to expand the “Huron County Jobs” Facebook page, coordinated shared training and facilitated various conversations about the needs of local employers.
New in 2019, ‘HURON EATS AND DRINKS,’ a food and beverage festival showcasing local producers, restaurants and retailers of all things delicious and local to be held on April 4th, 2020. It will feature a sampling menu and a shopping concourse. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone in the food production, food preparation and food-related retail to reach an engaged public during a fun event.
The Chamber will continue to provide opportunities for networking and business promotion. Working closely with the Exeter BIA and the Municipality of South Huron in 2019, we have been working on enhancing and improving South Huron’s online presence by promoting consistent messaging designed to bring new visitors, residents and workers to town. We are proud and pleased to present the completed “Video Project.” These professionally created videos will be featured on the BIA, Chamber and Municipal websites as well as on those of participating businesses. Together, we will be telling the story of our community and inviting others to work, live, play and invest here.
The South Huron Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization that is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. These business owners and operators understand the value of working together to build an environment that is conducive to business vitality and expansion. They aim to impact positive economic and community development by identifying concerns and opportunities for Chamber focus. Any Chamber member is eligible for a Board position; please consider supporting the Chamber in this way for 2020!
Thank you, we look forward to working with you in 2020 to achieve continued prosperity and community pride!
