Building on Success in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Annual South Huron Job Fair will be held March 07 from 2pm to 6pm at the South Huron Recreation Centre, 94 Victoria St., Exeter
SOUTH HURON – Job seekers will be able to connect with more than 20 employers who are seeking to fill over 200 positions. The annual South Huron Job Fair will be held at the South Huron Recreation Centre, located at 94 Victoria St. in Exeter, from 2pm to 6 pm. Building on the success of the 3 previous events, employers and job seekers can expect to make positive connections that will enhance the area’s job force and provide much needed employment.
This more traditional job fair will allow job seekers to explore all available opportunities and employer contacts will be provided to all who attend. Many local employers have available jobs due to expansion plans and/or positions that they have not been able to fill. 2019 Exhibitor application and Fact Sheet available here.
These jobs include current, summer and future (within 6 months) positions in various sectors including: agricultural, manufacturing, travel/tourism, social services, construction, food service, and others. Some positions are eligible for training support and career counselling services will be on site to assist.
Joan Brady, Executive Director of the South Huron Chamber of Commerce said, “job postings include a wide range of positions from entry level to supervisory and administrative positions. Although most jobs are fulltime positions, a number of part-time, contract and seasonal/summer positions have been posted as well”.
Job seekers are encouraged to come prepared for the event. Dressing professionally and making sure to bring up-to-date resumes and prepared questions, will ensure convincing first impressions and follow-up interviews. Once again this year, there is a Job Fair orientation option, where job counselors can advise participants of how to make the most of their Job Fair attendance. Check out this Job Seeker Factsheet to make the most of the opportunity.
According to Tine Buechler, a Career and Work Coach with Conestoga Career Centre, “attracting and retaining quality employees was identified as a high priority for local businesses. They are invested in building a permanent workforce that is skilled and able to contribute to their jobs and community”.
The Job Fair is being organized in collaboration with The Centre for Employment & Learning, the South Huron Chamber of Commerce, Conestoga Career Centre and the Municipality of South Huron. Additional employer exhibitors will be welcomed until Friday, March 01, 2019 and number of exhibitors and jobs represented will likely increase.
To sum up the initiative, Joan Brady, the South Huron Chamber of Commerce Executive Director suggested, “Hosting a job fair to highlight the opportunities and help make connections between employers and job seekers is a priority for the South Huron Chamber of Commerce, part of our role to promote economic growth and to increase community prosperity and pride.
